Make It Monday

New wreath! I've wanted to do a softball themed wreath for a while. I decided I wanted to try to make it just look like softball. The idea I came up with was so easy and so simple, I just knew it was destined to fail. I put off attempting it for a few days thinking I would come up with another plan. But in the end, I just went for it.

I bought a safety green (softball yellow) shirt, took a large embroidery hoop I had on hand, and cut a square from the shirt that was big enough to fill the hoop. Next I put the piece in the hoop, grabbed some red paint I had on hand, and hand painted the laces. I finished it off with a long scrap piece  (from a red shirt I had cut up in the past for another project) tied in a bow at the top for hanging. I also hot glued the shirt piece to the hoop for extra stability.

At first, I couldn't decide if it was complete. Should I bling it, put our last name one it, ect. I couldn't decide, so I hung it up thinking I'd go back to it. Then my husband and kids a saw it so I asked their opinion. We all voted it stays as is! I really like it! And as I only bought the yellow shirt, it only cost $3.99 to make it!

  1. That looks great! So simple and easy, but still perfect.
I don't think I would have added anything either...although now I'm trying to figure out how one would maybe add a tulle border to a embroidery hoop wreath. Hmmm....
